Temple Beth Sholom (TBS) is a progressive Conservative synagogue serving the southern San Diego County Jewish community. We are small enough that you will not get lost in the crowd, but large enough to provide a full array of spiritual, educational, cultural, and social activities for all age groups. We pride ourselves on our reputation for providing a warm welcome to all, and for being a good neighbor to people of all faiths in the community. This summer, the synagogue is undergoing several major renovations - both physical, intellectual, and most importantly - spiritually as well.

TBS has been at its present site since 1958. We are conveniently located off 2nd Ave, between F and G Streets in Chula Vista. We have been revitalized by the hard work of our Board of Directors and other active members, as well as our enthusiastic full-time Rabbi, Dr. Michael Samuel.

We have weekly Friday evening and Saturday morning services followed by an oneg or a Kiddush with refreshments and time for getting to know one another in the social hall. Every Shabbat we have lively discussions of the weekly Torah reading followed by a delicious vegetarian Kiddush that follows the services. We celebrate all major Jewish holidays with both religious services and other festivities, such as our annual Hanukkah party, Purim party, and second night Passover Seder.

We also provide a Torah School for children ages 6-12, Bar/Bat Mitzvah training for children ages 12-13, adult Hebrew, Introduction to Judaism, Jewish Business Ethics, Jewish mysticism, Great Jewish thinkers of the Medieval Era, Havdalah Under the Stars and Conversion classes. In addition, we are planning on creating a more participatory congregation where everyone adds their voice each month. In addition, we are also going to be having Teen classes exploring Jewish ethics and spirituality shortly after the holidays begin. Stay tuned in for more!

We also welcome interfaith families and provide multiple opportunities to become involved in the Jewish community. In choosing a Jewish community, always make sure that every family member is valued and respected! I believe that you will discover that we offer the kind of warmth and vitality that will engage all your senses.
