Temple Beth Sholom’s focus is on helping students to develop an understanding and appreciation of Jewish values and ethics, lifestyle practices, and holidays and traditions, thereby enabling them to incorporate these mitzvot into their lives. Learning to read and speak "prayer" Hebrew and the study of Jewish history and Torah will be central aspects to the curriculum. Goals for Torah study include the significance of the Torah in Judaism, its stories moral, messages and implications for daily living.
Temple Beth Sholom has classes on Sundays from 10am to 12:30 pm, and Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. We provide personalized attention with small class sizes. Our excellent teacher is well trained to help make learning about Jewish heritage enjoyable and exciting. Our classes accommodate assorted age groups, knowledge and experience levels. We provide a caring, nurturing environment where each child can develop and learn at his or her own pace.
Judy Goren is our Senior Teacher. She has been a Jewish educator for many years with ample experience in curriculum development and classroom management. Special attention is given to basic and advanced Hebrew reading and writing skills. Judy teaches basic conversational Hebrew to students of all age groups. She also teaches about Jewish holidays and celebrations, Jewish rituals, the weekly Torah portion, prayers and blessings and instills in her students a love for Israel. Our curriculum is versatile and designed so each student will enjoy the learning experience and maximize his or her potential.
Arts and crafts, songs and games are used in class, designed to reinforce the weekly lesson plan.
Judy teaches Bar and Bat - Mitzvah lessons and walks the children through their final stages of preparation with the utmost patience and understanding. She also teaches our ADULT Hebrew classes and is always looking for new students.
We welcome prospective students and parents to come and visit us.
